Do What Now?

Jen in Utah sent us this plate. I had the same feelings as she did:

Whatcha thinking? Doing? I sat there forever hating this plate for not finishing its sentence.

Agreed.

Maybe they are a fan of Whatchamacallits? If so this is the most terrible license plate evAR. BLEH!

Or maybe they were going for whachamahuh? The Urban Dictionary defines whachamahuh as:

1. I'm out of it don't mind me; 2. I am out of it, fill me in on what just happened; 3. I am out of it and almost beyond recovery; 4. I am beyond recovery don't even bother to fill me back in.

Yeah, I am beyond recovery right about now.

I think it is a whole take on the Cops show. Bad boys bad boys whacha gonna do? He is still a douche bag, but that is what I thought.

But, but, but.... OK, if it's not spelled correctly either a) they're that big an idiot that they didn't run it by someone who can spell (and who could tell them how stupid it is) before submitting it to the DMV *OR* b) Someone else actually has wHAcha!! I do not know which is worse.

And actually I thought it might be an onomotopoea of sorts - like a karate chop. Wah CHA! Or maybe a whip? But, no, it's probably just option a) up there. *sigh*

*onomatopoeia

I knew that didn't look right.

I am so confused by that plate. Whacha? Maybe we are thinking too hard and that is this person's surname. Bill Whacha. I am kind of buying that. Whacha and Sons Plumbing. Okay, even I think that sounds pretty silly.

How about a new category: "Too Cryptic for My Own Good" ?

My first thought was the whipping sound, as in, "Man, the wife has me totally whipped." Not exactly an image I'd want to put on my car...

word verification: meman "Me a man, but woman controls me."

Maybe its a new super secret dance "The Wahcha"... or maybe someone with a bad accent asked for "watcher" for his tag but was misunderstood

If you've ever watched George Lopez do stand up, or if you've watched his sit-com, you've heard him make this sound. Doesn't excuse putting it on a license plate for the world to see, though.

Sethra, my first thought was George Lopez as well.

I just found your blog...I'll admit, I have vanity plates, 7 characters. Mine tell about who I am, what I raise on the farm, pretty clear. I've been told to not post it on the internet, don't know why...the plates are on the truck in broad daylight. LOL. Anyhow...these are fun pics. I am not sure about the Muffy plate, and with a pink plate cover? And this one is baffling. :)

Whacha is a Spanglish word for "watch out". You might frequently hear us Mexican-Americans say something like "whacha-le" which means "watch yourself" or "watch him/her". Depending on the tone of voice it may mean "get out of the way" or "be careful" or "do me the favor and be mindful of yourself/him/her."

Additionally, it's fairly common (if I believe the novels I read) for some British folks to use "wotcha" as a basic greeting. Similar to "What's up?". Maybe he was inspired!
