Always do your reaserch!

Michael M. sent in PRIAPUS to us. At first I was like, huh? but read his email for further explanation. In my stupidity, I thought it had something to do with a Toyota Prius. Boy, was I wrong. I must have missed this one in Greek Mythology 101:

Priapus (Ancient Greek: Πρίαπος) was a minor rustic fertility god, protector of livestock, fruit plants, gardens and male genitalia. His Roman equivalent was Mutinus Mutunus. He was best noted for his huge, permanently [*Uhhh see below*], which gave rise to the medical term priapism.

WOW. Now I am educated.

(too bad it's not something recognizable to most people while driving down the road. Then again...it's high doubtful the driver of that car lives up to that name in any way >>).

:P

So is he praying to Priapus or is he saying he's Priapus???

We did a fairly extensive study of Greek mythology in junior high, somehow I don't exactly remember this Priapus fellow. ;-)

Umm....The dude drives a Mercedes. I think that, coupled with a plate dedicated to a Greek god with a permanently erect schlong, is the hoity toity equivalent to your obnxous/truck nutz guy.

Priapism isn't something you would normally wanna boast about. Shouldn't he see a doctor for that?

Like, maybe the driver of the IFXDK vehicle featured a couple days back? ;)

Speaking as a foxy lady who is also a Greek mythology buff, he'd so get my digits. Well, he would in a hypothetical world where I wasn't in a monogamous relationship. And where I had the health insurance to deal with the eventual ruptured cervix.

...incidentally, Ruptured Cervix is the name of my death metal band.

Someone thinks a bit more highly of himself than he should...

You know, this guy gets so many nerd points from me. I'd want to hate him, but I couldn't.

I was guilty of the Prius assumption too... I learned something new today because as Courteous Chihuahua pointed out, this was definitely left out of my jr. high Greek mythology segment! Wow. I'm torn between geeky admiration and wanting to run the other way as far and as fast as possible. :)

It could be self-deprecating humor if the car is a convertible or some sort of 'size issues' model.

Anyone who watches enough TV is probably familiar with priapism, given the amount of air time that side effect gets on all of those ED ads.
