He who laughs last, thinks slowest

Both of today's photos come from LadyStyx. You can tell she's been working hard, because one of the photos from yesterday's post came from her as well. Watch out vanity plate owners, she'll get you. Today's plates are a continuation of the very impatient drivers from yesterday. Our first is CPTN SLO (Captain slow). You know, he's that guy making a 5 minute right turn. Yeah, that guy.

Or, maybe he is referring to the fact he's a little slow in the head?

Look! That sign says, "Slow children at play."

Haha... wait... what?

You know what makes me H8 TRFIC (hate traffic) even more, CPTN OBVIUS? The mind-numbing amount of vanity plates in this state! I can't imagine what it's like driving in Virginia. I don't know if I could survive a day there. Plus, does anyone actually enjoy traffic?

LadyStyx, you are a brave, brave soul.

Damn...when I saw that first one I almost got excited. Being a Star Wars fan, I thought it said Captain Solo. Then I realized...

oh.

Captain Slow is the nickname they gave James May on Top Gear (it's a car programme from the BBC, you can also see it on BBCAmerica). Of course, I don't know why anyone would want to put James May's nickname on their car...it's like someone sticking Jezza or Hamster on their car (the other two presenters nicknames).

As a transplant to the state of Virginia, and an ardent hater (H8R?) of vanity plates, I can assure you that it is mind-numbingly difficult to deal with the absurd number of plates around here. And being stuck in traffic where you're behind the same stupid plate (PR1NZSS - come on) on the same crappy car for 30 minutes at a time truly is painful. Yay for $10 vanity plate charge. Yay.

Yay! I'm not the only one who immediately thought Top Gear. (Their Ford Fiesta review was fantastic.)

I am a long time reader, but a first time commenter. If you think Virginia has a mind-numbingly large number of vanity plates you should come to Alaska.

Maybe I'll flood your inbox once I get my camera fixed? :)

You know, H8 TRFIC could also read "Hate Terrific". Of course, that makes less sense being on a vehicle, but really, how many vanity plates out there ACTUALLY make sense? I'm thinking this Virginian is just a hater of all things terrific. Poor fella. He probably needs a hug. Course, then he'd hate that, too.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who read the first one as Captain Solo. I have actually seen a HAN SOLO plate, but I didn't have a camera with me at the time. :)

I too saw "Captain Solo" and thought "Oh cool, Star Wars plates!"

That would be a good "theme day" though...Star Wars plates *g*

The saddest part of this is that I get out maybe 1-2 days a week and we travel only 1 road on a weekly basis. In the 18 months here, we have traveled along only 3-4 roads here. The big trip weekly is out to eat, then to the dr's office, then WalMart and finally the grocery store. That's it. This week we went to IHOP....there were 7 in one row of one section of the small bit of parkinglot nearest the restaurant..... which reminds me, I have scads to upload to the file from this last couple weeks.
