Bee Yourself

LadyStyx sent in MIBGNU. She helps us out with this interpretation: Am I Buggin' You? On a yellow VW Beetle.

The answer is an unequivocal YES.

YOLK is from MooseNuggette. She writes: I thought this one was funny. Hope you like it…or hate it a lot!

I guess I would have to say I love to hate this one.

Taylor D. sent us BUZZZZY. Are 4 Zs really necessssary?

Monday, May 24, 2010

I'm sorry officer; I thought you wanted to race.

Alison B. sent in N A RUSH (In a rush). She writes: Here I am Mr. Police Officer!!! Come and get me!!!

Exactly. You might get some laughs from drivers who think this kind of thing is funny, but we think you are just going to wind up with more speeding tickets. So good luck with that.

MooseNuggette sent in YSOSLO (Why so slow?). She offers the perfect answer to this question: It’s the skinny pedal on the right!

So I think today's lesson in vanity is an important one: Do you like to pay speeding fines? Get a vanity plate. Problem solved.

Well, I H9 you. That is H8 + 1.

YUH8TEN (Why you hatin'?) is from Katherine T. She writes: What I thought was funny about this was the license plate frame that says “retired US air force”. I just can’t imagine an older man who was in the military with a pimped out Mercedes having a plate like this. The two just don’t go together, but I guess I was wrong!

Why am I "h'eight'ten'"? Let me count the ways! This plate is all over the place: missing words, extra Ts, letters used to represent words, numbers used to represent letters. The plate-rage is strong with this one.

U 8H I was sent in by MooseNuggette (not to be confused with moose knuckles!). I guess this is supposed to be one of those look-in-your-rear-view-mirror kind of plates, because then it would read: I H8 U (I hate you). Kudos if this is actually mounted to the front of your vehicle, but I am pretty sure it has to be displayed on the back as well. YOU EIGHTH I just doesn't have the same effect now, does it?

I AM retired. I was tired yesterday, and I am tired again today.

MooseNuggette sent in today's plate: NO401K [No 401(k)]. She writes:

I’ve seen this plate 3 or 4 times over the past year but it was always movin’ – go figure. Finally captured it for you! I happen to think it is pretty funny, but am pretty sure you’ll have a stronger reaction.

Stronger, indeed. Basically I think this driver is trying to tell us that he spent his retirement on a Porsche Carrera AND A VANITY PLATE. Really smart, if you ask me.

In case of fire, break glass.

Beth sent in this lovely Alaskan gem, NORMAL. She writes:

We saw this minivan at church this weekend. The plate cracked me up as there is, clearly, nothing normal about a minivan with flames. Awesome? Yes. Normal? No.

If there is one car that I thought could produce fires from its power and performance, it's a freaking Town & Country minivan. AM I RIGHT?! BadA$$!! This car is ON FIRE!

Friday, March 26, 2010

Sorry?

Beth sent us RCWIDO (Rich Widow?). She writes:

I parked next to this car at Target this weekend. Besides being just plain wrong, my thought was, "You claim to be a RCWIDO (Rich Widow), and yet that's the car you choose to drive?" Yikes!

Hand over the chocolate, and no one gets hurt.

MooseNuggette, our one platerazzo in Alaska, has graciously sent us this fine Friday specimen: MS PMS-- as in Ms. Pre-Menstrual Syndrome. Really? Do we need to be talking about our periods and mood swings via our vehicles? I guess we do.

And I wonder why she's not MRS PMS? Heh.

Better late than a vanity plate

Chiari L. sent us ALWYSL8 (always late). I'm not sure why anyone would want a license plate with this plastered on it, but thanks for the warning, I guess.

Lexi sent us I R LATE (I are late?). I are don't know grammar very good. Glad they didn't resort to using "L8" at least.

Rachel R. sent us IM LATE. Nice excuse, but I would guess this doesn't really work with law enforcement.DNTBL8 comes to us from MooseNuggette. Uh, thanks for the warning? Although my warning to this driver would be: Don't be a douche.

Episode I: The Vanity Menace

Today's set of plates is a continuation of yesterday's Episode II: Attack of the Vain. Let the action figure collecting begin!
R2D2JJ is from Kerstyne. Beep-beep-bloop-bzzz *head turn.
MooseNuggette sent in C3PO, which she also points out could be OPEC backwards (creepy how that works).
Amanda sent in our last plate of this series, HAN SOLO. She writes: My husband spotted this one and said I had to take a picture and send it in. He laughed that this plate would have been even better on a Ford Falcon.

I can only hope there was a wookiee in the passenger seat.

A good fun alternative to life

I(heart)MYWOW comes to us from Heidi. She writes:

As in World of Warcraft, which is made obvious by the plate frame (and the decals). Strangely, this car was not parked in his (or her) mama's driveway. It was at our military commissary, and is nearly every time I go there, which leads me to believe that this person is, in fact, employed.

Ha, these WoW gamers really have a reputation.
Here's another WoW plate, PEWPEW. This one comes to us from MooseNuggette. According to the Urban Dictionary, "Pew Pew" means:

1. Sound made by lasers, usually related to star wars.
2. Owning a person, usually related to world of warcraft

Or, it's the sound of my lasers, piercing burning holes into your tires.

Adorkable?

J.D. captured this photo of NRDYGRL (Nerdy Girl). Because being cool is overrated, and you want everyone to know it.
MooseNuggette snapped DORKY for us. She writes:

Hey little brother, I got your birthday present. It’s something for your car.

Muhuehahaha! *Snort! Haha! *Snort!

Death before decaf

As much as I need a cup of caffeine right now, I would never, ever, put that thought on a vanity plate. Do you really want to be that person with the bumper sticker that reads, "I HAVEN'T HAD MY COFFEE TODAY... DON'T MAKE ME KILL YOU?" Yeah, I didn't think so.

Our first plate is from MooseNuggette, CAFENE (Caffeine). She writes: My drug of choice.

Shannon sent in CAFN8ME (Caffeinate me). One strike for using an 8. One strike for that terrible vanity plate holder. And one strike for driving a Mini Cooper (HI-YO!). You're out.

XPRESSO is from Ben B. Yeah drink espresso... Do stupid things faster with more energy!

Our last plate is from platty, [STAR]BUCKER. Stars on vanity plates?! California, you are wild!

Now why don't you just buck on out of here with that plate, ya hear?

Monday, November 30, 2009

I'm not fat; I'm "fluffy"

After all of that...

BUTTAH (butter),
HAGNDAZ (Haggen-Dazs ice cream),
APPLE PI (Apple pie for nerds),
and CAKE last week...
This week I am going to eat nothing but SALADZ (and leftovers, of course).

CAKE - Heather M.
SALADZ - Kolleen SALADZ! (You don't make friends with SALADZ!)

I give thanks for green bean casserole. And vanity plates.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
The only turkey plate I could find in the archives was from Michelle B, GOBBLR 3. I can only hope this car is being piloted by a real-live turkey. Gobble, gobble, gobble.

THKSx2 (thanks times two? Thanks, thanks?) is from Misha H. She thinks, however, that this driver may be giving thanks for another reason. She writes: The alimony payments must be hefty.

Our last plate today comes from MooseNuggette, GVTHNX (Give thanks). That "x" is a bit nauseating, no?

And while the vanity plate owners are giving thanks for things, we'd also like to give a big thanks to all our readers, platerazzi, tweeters, facebookers, and everyone else who makes this website the joy it is (even you, vanity plate owners)! You rock.

Wednesday, November 25, 2009

Forget fruits and veggies. Eat your vanity plates.

Continuing with our Thanksgiving theme of "food," I have a couple more vanity plate selections for you served hot and fresh from our archives. They are just steaming with plate rage. MmmmMmm!

Kelly T. is submitting her husband's plate, BANANAZ. All I have to say is, "That vanity plate is bananas! B-A-N-A-N-A-S!"
CHERRY is from MooseNuggette. Really? I wonder if this driver knows what that is slang for?
Our last plate is from Sam. She managed to stealthily catch ONION 4. Fresh, frozen, canned, caramelized, pickled, powdered, chopped, and dehydrated... How does one's obsession with a vegetable get this far?!

Thursday, November 19, 2009

I'm not sure how I passed my driver's exam either.

SYKO comes to us from a member of our Alaskian platerazzi, MooseNuggette. I assume this plate is referring to this drivers mental status, "psycho." According to wikipedia: Psycho is a slang word for a person who is either psychopathic or psychotic. The term is often considered mildly offensive or derogatory.

Yeah it sounds like a great idea to give a license to someone who frequently loses contact with reality.

Oh, and have I mentioned the delusions and hallucinations? They make driving such a task. Watch out for that giant purple-spotted unicorn near Main Street. It will eat you!

I call him my WASband

Kate sent us HZPNSHN. She writes: My first thought is.....nasty divorce!?!? Ha haaaaa!! Daaang!

That's right, it says "his pension." Which means this ex-wife bought a Chrysler minivan with her ex-husband's retirement fund and has decided to brag about it on her van.

Virginia, you make my head want to explode.

MooseNuggette sent in WASHIS (was his). This GoldWing motorcycle also has a vanity plate holder which reads: Her Diamond Wing. How romantic!

Get smashed

Happy Halloween! We're going to celebrate today with our favorite gourd, the pumpkin.Or as MooseNuggette points out, this could mean something totally different: Maybe the guy pimps his relatives?

Oh how clever! Your car is orange! I haven't seen this before. Oh wait...

I have.

I think G8 PUMKN is supposed to mean "Great Pumpkin," but maybe you have one that guards your gate? Try an "R" next time (pirates will be grateful). Thank you Chevy for creating a color that inspires idiocy on vanity plates. I appreciate that.

Not pumpkin related, but we're on our last days of Halloween, so I thought this last one was appropriate, TRK TRET (Trick or Treat? I know, it's a stretch). Too bad this plate is only relevant one day of the year.

Hope you have a G8 time trick or treating.

Photo cred (thanks):

Don't knock on Death's door. Ring the doorbell and run. He hates that.

Continuing in our Halloween spirit LadyStyx managed to capture 6FTNDR (Six Feet Under). In case you didn't know, that is the term for being dead, referring to a grave dug six feet under ground. Pleasant.

MORB1D is from MooseNuggette. Why yes, that bumper sticker does say "I Brake For Cemeteries." Quite morbid indeed. I can only hope the driver of this vehicle blasts The Monster Mash at deafening levels where ever they go.

Thursday, October 29, 2009

Trick or treet, smell my vanity. It smells great, doesn't it?

Hopefully you'll see some of these characters on your doorstep this Halloween begging for treats. Too bad these specific people are stuck with the plates all year long. On with the creepy!

Yes, Lucifer (aka the Devil) drives a truck. You know what they say, don't you? The road to hell is paved in POORLY ABBREVIATED VANITY PLATES.

I knew of a 1985 Chevy dubbed "the ghost." It was called that because it just wouldn't die.

I'm terrified. Dark Dragon? Wooo I am so scared of your avatar! I wonder if you know Albi the Racist Dragon?
Might want to get that LOOKED at. Ha HA.

People, I have mountains of these. The Halloween Creep Fest continues tomorrow.
