Episode I: The Vanity Menace

Today's set of plates is a continuation of yesterday's Episode II: Attack of the Vain. Let the action figure collecting begin!
R2D2JJ is from Kerstyne. Beep-beep-bloop-bzzz *head turn.
MooseNuggette sent in C3PO, which she also points out could be OPEC backwards (creepy how that works).
Amanda sent in our last plate of this series, HAN SOLO. She writes: My husband spotted this one and said I had to take a picture and send it in. He laughed that this plate would have been even better on a Ford Falcon.

I can only hope there was a wookiee in the passenger seat.

Episode II: Attack of the Vain

I had a request to post some of my favorite Star Wars finds. I am doing this not because they are necessarily horrible, just extremely geeky. This series will be in two parts, Episodes I & II. I am releasing episode II before I, however, because I am Mrs. HLP, princess of the Plate Rage People (and I do want I want).
Laura P. sent in our first plate: RUJEDI2. She writes:

This one took me a minute. I finally figured out it said "Are you Jedi too." .... but we're in Idaho. I thought we raised master pitchfork wielders, not light saber wielders!
That's QUI-GON Jinn to you! Just need to work on your aim.

Probably on the way to his mom's house (Oh and I have her plate too. See: Luke... hhhhh... I am Your Mother). May the Force guide you out of my lane, Sir! (JEDI plate is from Jason G.)

A good fun alternative to life

I(heart)MYWOW comes to us from Heidi. She writes:

As in World of Warcraft, which is made obvious by the plate frame (and the decals). Strangely, this car was not parked in his (or her) mama's driveway. It was at our military commissary, and is nearly every time I go there, which leads me to believe that this person is, in fact, employed.

Ha, these WoW gamers really have a reputation.
Here's another WoW plate, PEWPEW. This one comes to us from MooseNuggette. According to the Urban Dictionary, "Pew Pew" means:

1. Sound made by lasers, usually related to star wars.
2. Owning a person, usually related to world of warcraft

Or, it's the sound of my lasers, piercing burning holes into your tires.

I read your e-mail

ILHACKU (I'll hack you) is from Kolleen. I assume this means this driver is a hacker of computers. Nerd alert!

Also, when hear the word hack I think, "to cut up into small bits." Um, no thank you.

The only thing that needs to be hacked now, is this plate.

OMG! OMG! OMG! ... wait... I forgot.

I've got to hand it to California for allowing special characters on their vanity plates: hearts, stars, plus signs and, yes, even hands. OMG JK is from Kendall, and I think the hand here is necessary because it adds that extra pause and attitude needed for its interpretation, and eventually, its immediate reversal:

Oh my god!! *jazz hands* ... Just kidding.

It's funny, but I would still be terrified to get anywhere near your car with my vehicle. Love tap, anyone?

I freaking pwn you

Summon your inner geek (go ahead, I'll wait) and enjoy these extremely 133+ plates I've hand picked for you today.

PWNZ GAS is from Colleen S, who informs me this was on a Toyota Prius (a hybrid). According to wikipedia, pwn is a leetspeak slang term derived from the verb "own", as meaning to appropriate or to conquer to gain ownership. The term implies domination or humiliation of a rival, used primarily in the Internet gaming culture to taunt an opponent who has just been soundly defeated (e.g., "You just got pwned!").
We must thank our RPGAMERs for such a s00perb linguistic dialect. RPGAMER was snapped by Squidrox. I like how this person is so proud of their nerd-dom.
PWNNOOB is from sara-liz. A n00b, according to the urban dictionary is an inexperienced and/or ignorant or unskilled person. Especially used in computer gaming. So basically, this person is stating something like:

"Sir, I dominated you based on your lack of experience in this particular skill, specifically, driving. Now use your signal, and kindly remove yourself from the passing lane." kthxbye.

I'm not an English Major. I are a Scientist.

MC SQR-E (E=mc²). Triple nerd score.

I bet your bumper sticker says, "There are 10 types of people in this world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't." *snort laugh, snort laugh, snort laugh.

My mom still thinks I'm cool, so what's the big deal?
CAL-Q-L8 (Calculate). If there was a problem, yo I'll solve it.
Ah yes, the dreaded P-Value. Statistics class: Where fun goes to die.

Until next time, my nerds, may the F=ma be with you.

Come To The Dork Side: We Have Pi

I don't usually like to do re-posts, but the last photo in this article is great (click on the photo for the full effect). The original article can be seen here. (Although, we've been eating Pi here for quite some time).

The Pi-Mobile Races at Imaginary Number Speeds

Some people drive a 1.2. Others a 2.2. Few drive a 3.14159. But whatever you drive, beware of the logarithms and remember to throw away your 420 in case you see a 5-0. 10-4?

That image was posted by Reddit user Alexem, who captured his 2001 Volkswagen Jetta going past the 314,159 kilometers mark. Here's another—less subtle—pi-mobile: The Mazda Pi. [Reddit via BBG]

What a πmp. Get it? PImp! Ar har har har.

(√-1) (2*4) ∑ π Okay, I need to stop...

What Light Through Yonder Windshield Breaks?

Dear Horrible License Plates,
I saw this plate in a parking lot on the campus of Indiana University. The lot was fairly close to the English building, so I can only hope that this car belongs to one of the many prominent Renaissance scholars there. I mean, who wouldn't want to roll up to a Shakespeare conference or class with his or her very own personalized Billy Shakes license plate? I can only hope that if Shakespeare were alive today he would be willing and eager to remove the vowels from his name for the sake of 6 character license plate awesomeness.

Yours in vanity,
Lindsay K.

Worst. Pageant. Ever.

Here we have a young math enthusiast. She was crowned Ms. Math 1996 at the Nevada State Fair. I hear she won the talent portion by reciting pi to the 1000th decimal place. If she really works at it, someday she can rise to the rank of Doctor Math. Or with some really hard work, she'll be at the level of this vanity plate owner, MATHGOD. Bow down and worship me, I can solve some really hard equations.

MS MATH: Gina T.

MATHGOD: Taylor D.

If I Were An Enzyme I Would Be DNA Helicase So I Could Unzip Your Genes

Alright you nerds, get your thinking caps on. The first comes from Squidrox who writes:

...woman, man, um....2 girls? Hermaphrodite? Some bizarre math equation? A cryptic message like the numbers from "Lost"? If I have to think about it this hard, it's horrible

I think these people were going for your first guess of, "Man. Woman. 2 Girls." And for those of you completely confused, XX is a female (two X chromosomes) and XY is a male (one X and one Y chromosome). Although I've been typing that code into my computer here in the hatch for the past couple of hours, you know, to make the beeping stop.

Get it? 2 HELIX... Double helix... Jen H. also has a good story:

Spotted in my grocery store parking lot last night, after I had packed up my groceries, started my car, and started backing out of my parking spot. The incredibly geeky side of me had me almost doubled over in fits of giggles so I proceeded to pull back in to my parking spot and get out to take a picture of the lovely double helix.

How To Settle 98% Of Arguments

I must admit. I am a Googler. When you run a website about trying to decipher the world's whacked-out mystery license plate messages, Google becomes your best friend. Your best friend who knows everything, like what a melonhead is, for example. Or where to find videos of cats gnawing on corn cobs.

A vanity plate with the phrase "GOOGL IT" on it though? Really? How much are they paying you?

Here is a list of some of the humorous things people have typed into Google that have led them to our site. Enjoy:

-nice booty look good*
-creepiness
-"it's just a catfish"
-bag of rocks
-dont spit on my cupcake and tell me it's frosting - what does it mean
-i just want to be loved is that so wrong
-mind constantly in gutter
-funny bumper stickers, license plates, gynecology

Uhhh? Gynecology?

Thanks goes to Heidi, who snatched this picture from a friend.

*I'm almost positive they were disappointed.

The 97th Greatest Film Of All Time (really?)

Okay, I am going to be honest with you. I've never seen the Blade Runner movies, but this plate is really funny to me. Why? Well we all know how much an airbrushed decal enhances your vanity plate message—the shading, the shadowing of the script font, the way it races across your truck bed, that blob behind the word "Blade," pure genius. Plus, there is no Blade Runner 3. Oh that’s right. YOU are the Blade Runner 3. Silly me. Good luck hunting down and "retiring" escaped replicants on Earth. Nerd-alert.

Jason writes:

My wife and I saw this truck yesterday afternoon in San Mateo, CA. I've always enjoyed the Harrison Ford movie of the same name, but I wasn't aware that there were more parts of the story. Apparently, this is the 3rd part. Who knew?

I certainly didn't, but thanks for bringing it to our attention.

The Dark Side... Of Vanity

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away but somehow in the future this nerd got a vanity plate for his shiny new podracer. Unfortunately, podracers aren't street legal so he settled for this plate on his F-150. And yes, I had to look up what a podracer was via Wookieepedia (Yes, I said Wookieepedia. I don't make this stuff up). I LOVE the fact that you used a 3 to replace a much needed E. Sigh. May the force bring you your E.

I could probably start a whole category of Star Wars plates, but frankly, I don't want to. The world (Er, galaxy?) does not need this sort of encouragement. Yes, I'm looking at you JEDI MOM.

Thanks PoetrySue!

One whose IQ exceeds his weight

Nerd alert (a l33t nerd, no less)! The platerazzi who snapped this one writes to us:

This "nerd" doesn't know how to drive. Probably should read the driver's license test prep material at least once. First they cut me off... then slam on the brakes... and eventually after about 5 minutes make a left turn without ever indicating.

That's right. Get the plate rage out my dears. Thanks for the submission Karl M.!

Rollin' on Nubs

Interpretation: PWN NUBS = pwn n00bs

Last I checked, you pwn n00bs, not nubs. I always thought nubs were, like, what is left after an amputation, no? I don't know if I would feel too good pwning a nub. For those of you who are confused, pwn means "owned" and n00bs refers to people who are new at a particular website or game. I believe this is what the internets calls l33t speak. So basically, the moral of this story is that VANITY PLATES ARE L4M3, even for the uber nerds.

Thanks to Squidrox for this photo.

This is Some Heavy Stuff

You need to be careful MS. PB FT. PB can mean a number of things. At first glance, I though you might have some sort of peanut butter foot fetish and imagined two slices of white bread sandwiching your foot. And then I puked a little in my mouth.

I soon realized what you really mean though. For those of you still wondering, Pb is the 82nd element on the Periodic Table: Lead. So to translate, MS PB FT reads, "Ms. Lead Foot." You could also interpret this as, "Hey, Mr. Policeman! Pull me over!"

Thanks to Courtney E. for sending this one in.

I Wish I Was Your Derivative, Because Then I Would Be Tangent to Your Curves

This is what you came up with when faced with the decision to be judged on an everyday basis? PI R SQ? And for those of you who need it - Interpretation: Pi R squared (formula for the area of a circle). You give a whole new meaning to "driving around in circles." HAR HAR.

Awesome choice. Now we are going to beat you up and take your lunch money.

Sent in by the lovely Sue. Fine, fine work, my friend!

Luke... hhhhh... I am Your Mother

What is with all the Star Wars plates in this state? Looks like this JEDI MOM just got back from battling some tie-fighters. Pew! Pew! Pew! You can guess there will be lots of little stormtroopers running around this Halloween, fulfilling their parents dreams of their little ones becoming Star Wars figurine collectors some day. We can dress the baby as Chewbacca! [insert my best back-of-the-throat-gurrgle Chewbacca howl here Waahhhhhohhhhh]. Beep! Beep! Here comes the nerd-mobile!
