No duh!

Jessica B. sent in ITSNXLR. At first I got this plate and was like, "It's an elixir?" And then I realized it was on a Cadillac XLR: It's an XLR, DUH! Although after all that mind numbing thinking, I'm going to need an elixir. Make it a double. Here is another DUH plate, KATLAK. Not only have you butchered the word "Cadillac," but you've went ahead and posted it on your car. (from Lauren at the Perplexikon)

Guess what kind of car this plate is on? A Porsche Cayenne. Get it? Cayenne pepper! I know, it hurts. (Plate via Amanda)

I'm going to take that elixir now, and then scream into a pillow.

How's 7 billion sound?

April H. sent us this Lovin' the Lord Sunday gem: GOD IOU. "IOU" means "I owe you" which is a promise to pay a debt. I believe the "debt" here is this driver's vanity plate hanging off his brand new Corvette. *sigh*

Do Your Research, or Not

Um, I don't even know what to say. If you know why this is funny, then you are probably thinking the same thing as I am thinking right now. Or better, you are trying to get that image out of your head. If you have no idea what's going on here, and you enjoy a good spot of tea on occasion, then it's best to move along and thank the good Lord for your innocence.

Related, Warning, Your Nickname Might Be Slang for "Crotch".

Photo from Brad. Thank you, platerazzi, for once again awakening my inner 13 year old.

He who laughs last thinks slowest; He who laughs first has the dirtiest mind.

For those of you living under a rock, LOL = Laugh out loud (or lots of laughs).

Our first laughter themed plate comes from LadyStyx who writes: I guess LOL or LMAO were taken? For the record OMG LOL, AWWW WTF, and BRB LOL are also taken.
LOLCAT was sent in by Dan. It seems appropriate that a crazy lolcat would drive a scooter. Those lolcats do a lot of things when were not looking.

LOL BOX is from Kathryn D. I know this is a "boxy" Scion xB but there is more than one meaning for that second word...
LOLRUS is from Jasmine. Get it? Lolrus? Jasmine writes: This is our license plate. I regret it now, only because I think "LOLCAR" would have been so much better.

I kind of love this plate (yes, I said it), just because it combines two of my favorite things, walruses and laughing.

Not all habits are bad

Amanda from The Perplexikon sent in 1 X NUN (One ex-nun?).

I don't understand... You were a nun once, but now you aren't... and you want the world to know? Odd, don't you think? Unless there is something I am missing here.

Or maybe you are a nun? I mean 1 x NUN = NUN, right? Well in that case, rock on sister. Posted today because nuns are obviously Lovin' the Lord.

Give thanks! I bring you vanity!

Larisa S. sent in this gem. She writes: I finally tracked down one I've been trying to get for months. GratefuL: This is "When 6 is not enough spaces."

Yeah, RATEFU just wouldn't have the same effect. For the record: This plate is my worst nightmare. I mean people are actually adding MORE letters?! *sigh
April H. sent in B GR8FL (Be grateful). And I would be grateful too if I were driving a BMW convertible. I mean...I'm just sayin' ::throwing hands up and shrugging shoulders::

I love it when a vanity plate tells me how I should feel, don't you?

So this last one is a little tricky, but I think it still means grateful. I mean, there is no hideous 8 to really make it official, but I have my reasons.

What gives it away you ask? The hand in this one has no middle finger. After a quick internet search or two I discovered that Jerry Garcia of The Grateful Dead had no middle finger on his right hand. Those crafty little hippies! (Picture snapped by Diona)

Nuttier than a squirrel turd

Amanda over at The Perplexicon (a [really awesome] blog I now frequent daily) sent us this lil' gem the other day. She writes: I saw this in the parking lot at University of Houston... All I thought was "cute." lol.

LIL NUT. So maybe you're a little crazy? Maybe you're lopsided, ahem, down there? Or maybe there's just one lil one?

This plate is from Texas, where I hear things are supposed to be larger, so who knows why it's "lil." It just is, I guess. Sometimes you feel like a nut; Sometimes you don't.

The moral of the story is that if a word can be translated to mean "testicle" it's probably not suitable for a vanity plate. Ya dig?

I'm not bossy, I just have better ideas

UNZWAY (You in zee way?) Even if I am in the way, your "cute" accent doesn't change my mind about your plate– It's very annoying. (Picture submitted by Brinn M).

OUTDWAY (Outt'da Way!) comes to us from Mari. To the driver: There are much nicer ways to ask. How about, "Excuse me, Ma'am?"
A nice response to the two above plates is NVRMOVN, sent to us by AJ. Call me crazy, but isn't the point of having a car TO MOVE FROM PLACE TO PLACE?

See a plate you want to send to us? Snap a picture of it and send them to us at horriblelicenseplates [at] gmail [.] com. And check out our Facebook fan page while you're at it.

I'm not an English Major. I are a Scientist.

MC SQR-E (E=mc²). Triple nerd score.

I bet your bumper sticker says, "There are 10 types of people in this world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't." *snort laugh, snort laugh, snort laugh.

My mom still thinks I'm cool, so what's the big deal?

Ah yes, the dreaded P-Value. Statistics class: Where fun goes to die.

I just poked your mom on facebook

Squeeze me, and I'll fart on you.

SQUEEZ comes to us from Courtney E: We were behind this car for a long time on our way to Austin. I don’t even get the meaning behind this plate. I did feel like “SQUEEZ”ing their head for having such a dumb plate. They got every letter except for the last “e”.

Brian P. sends us our first Hawaiian plate, POKE. Maybe this driver is a big Facebook fan? Or maybe they're just creepy? Either way, you're probably going to poke somebody's eye out with that thing.

See also, THRUST, HUMP, and LUV TAP (for more strangers touching you). *shudder*

I see dead people...

...Oh, wait. It's all good. I work at the morgue.

Jamie P. sent us this picture of HEARSE on a Ford Flex. I agree with you Jamie, those cars do look like you could fit a full casket in the back. The odd thing is, why advertise? This one gets the Creepy Seal of Approval.

Shut Your Sass Hole

I just want to start this post by saying they call them vanity plates for a reason."Starring Me" comes from Melani X. She writes: This is one of those annoying plates that makes me want to walk by and "accidentally" key their car...

2 SASS C (Too Sassy) comes from April: I give this one two snaps in a Z-formation! Ahahahaha!

Finally, we have SPLDBRT (Spoiled Brat) which came to us from Dan W. This is actually his wife's plate. Way to throw her under the bus. We love ya!

Times up! Yours will say PLATE1

I agree with Courtney E. (who sent BLANK to us) that this was probably the scene at the DMV that day:

Truck owner: Errr, how 'bout one of them vanity license plates?
DMV: Alright, that's an extra $20. And what would you like it to say?
Truck Owner: I just want it blank. haHA.
DMV [with an evil twinkle in her eye]: Blank it is. Move along.

Three weeks later Truck Owner receives his plate with “BLANK” on it.

And scene.
Our second creativity award goes to PLATE 1. Doesn't this remind you of all the times you've gone to a new page in Word and the program automatically calls it "Document 1"? I supposed they have MS Vanity Plate Creator at the Illinois DMV.

That's what you get for listening to a paperclip. Thanks for the submission Kati M.!

Don't Rave And Drive

I know to this driver it may seem like ecstasy to own a Mazda RX-8. To this driver I say, thanks for the message Mr. Obvious. If nothing annoys me more than a vanity plate, it's one with your make of car on it.

To me it looks like you have somewhat of a drug problem. RX is a symbol typically used for prescriptions. Ecstasy is a drug. Effects may include euphoria, decreased hostility and insecurity, and a tendency to dance like a fool for hours to nauseating techno music. Although this may also be attributed to being a douche bag.

Thanks for the submission Courtney E.!

I'll have one Roethlisberger With Ketchup and Cheese

I couldn't decide who to cheer for during the Super Bowl yesterday. Then I realized that I could look to my vanity plate collection for guidance. So I concluded that the Steelers needed to win, because no one sent in a Cardinals plate. Then I drank a lot of beer.

Surprisingly this method worked. Thanks Jen H. for a perfectly timed submish!

Just because I spent 2 whole days archiving over 500 vanity plate submissions, I am going to bombard you with all of the losers from this year. And I mean that in the nicest way possible.
Here we have LVBRNCS. I assume your love is for the Denver Broncos. Or the Bronx? Or you love brown cats? I don't know. Any other c-words you can think of? Hm, never mind... Don't answer that last question.
Dem Bears stunk dis year, eh? Here we have a Bears Fan. I know this because of your license plate holder and decal, but to me, from afar it looks like you're into BEAR F'N. I'd like to buy an A for clarification please.
Sorry Dallas, you lose too.

Someone call a doctor!

Finally, we have what looks to be a transplanted Cheesehead driving around the state of Nevada. I am new to the state of Wisconsin myself, but I will never understand you people and your football.

This Plate Blows

Jamie writes to us:

I actually took this photo in the wal-mart shopping center near my home. It was great to see it parked, because I had been following this same vehicle previously and couldn’t get a picture of it.

Ah yes, vanity plate stalking. I do it frequently at my local Wal-Mart as well. Attention Wal-Mart shoppers. If you drive a black Lexus with the license plate LUNGS, your making me laugh uncontrollably.

If you look closely you will see that this is an Organ Donation Awareness plate. I think this humors me so much because this driver is very specific about what organ he is talking about. Wouldn't have GIVE or DON8 been sufficient? I guess he could have also been a recipient of a new pair. Who knows?

In my personal opinion, BREATHING RULES! If you didn't have lungs, or needed new ones, that would suck. So, I am kind of glad they have these Organ Donation Awareness plates.

Also, If you are in need of a LIVR, I know where to find one.

That'll Buff Out

This plate comes to us courtesy of April in Texas. I have to agree with her that this plate probably isn't referring to the driver's love for a certain type of dance:

Can you imagine seeing this coming up in your rear view mirror? I visualize the conversation going a little something like this:

driver: Wow - that car sure is coming up fast behind us. I hope they noticed I'm stopped at the red light. I'd hate for him to plow into my new car.

passenger: (turning to look out the back window) Ya- they are getting pretty clo - oh!!!!

*CRASH*

LUVTAP: [Exits car to examine damage] Dude, I barely hit your car. It was a love tap, if anything. I am a very affectionate driver as you can see by my vanity plate. I often give other cars a little love tap. It’s actually a complement. It’s like my way of saying, "Your car has a nice bumper."

TMI

Lover is one of those words that you just shouldn't use to describe yourself in public. I mean when is this ever appropriate? "My love" is kind of endearing, but LUVER? Unless that is your last name, I am giving this the HLP Creeptastic Seal of Disapproval.

I instantly thought of this sketch with Christopher Walken, Rachel Dratch, Will Ferrell, and Ana Gasteyer on Saturday Night Live titled "Patio Lovers":

Virginia: Well, are you at the point in your relationship when you can walk hand-in-hand as lovers?
Catherine: I, um, guess so.
Walter: Actually, we haven't been seeing each other all that long.
Virginia: Oh, I see. So in due time, eh lover?
Roger: [as he rubs Virginia's arms] Yes, Virginia. I remember our first days of courtship as if it were yesterday. Eager drives to Holyoke. Passionate cries of love making muffle into a feather pillow in order to avoid waking your roommate Chin Le. [kisses Virginia]
Virginia: Oh, yes, yes. Fond memories, my lover prince.

Our thanks goes to April H. for sending this photo to us.

Probably Something You Shouldn't Advertise

Ah, I love the smell of creepy in the morning! I thought all the pervs lived in Wisconsin, but I guess I am wrong. April H, the sender of this photo, writes:

From simply being in proximity to this car, I'm thinking of changing my plate to VIOL8D.

Indeed.

What makes you such a violator, VIOL8R? Do you fart loudly in the elevator? Did you write the word "boobies" with your pee in the snow outside of church? Do you hit on teens? I mean, you can't be violating other cars with a KIA, can you?
